Well, local time claims to be 2:22 a.m. and I'm still very much awake. So I figured I'd write up some fluffy fluff for my Copper Dragons. From the outset I'm going to make it clear that even though this is a Salamanders Successor Chapter, I will more than likely go the "Counts As" route, and base the army around the current Blood Angels Codex, what with their varieties of capability of flamy destruction. Pretty straightforward, right?
Intro to Copper Dragons Part 1
Legion Name: Copper Dragons
Primarch: Vulkan...? (No official records exist concerning the founding of the Chapter, and as such leave the possibility of another Primarch's Gene-Seed, while tradition holds that the Copper Dragons are a Salamanders Successor Chapter, their gene-seed is markedly different from that of their predecessors.)
Homeworld: Cuprum
Founding: 21st Founding (Only known surviving Chapter of the "Cursed Founding")
Tactical Profile: Close range firefight, specializing in heat based weaponry.
Like any other seriously different Space Marine Chapter, they suffer from a genetic mutation, in this case, slowly turning into humanoid dragons with copper scales, wings and in certain rare situations, firebreath. The Blood Angels Red Thirst/Black Rage (In this case Drake's Instincts) reflects the ones most advanced in the transformation, and are overtaken by the Drake's Instincts to fearlessly guard whatever they may deem valuable, or viciously destroy any perceived threat to their territory. Also, much to the contrary of their Nocturnean brothers the Copper Dragon Homeworld Cuprum has practically normal gravity and as such jump infantry not only are existent, but due to the unique mutation in their gene-seed, actually quite abundant, if not reserved for the most elite of their forces. Their leathery drakewings grow as they advance in age, and as such the Assault Squads are composed of the oldest and most battle-hardened of the Copper Dragons. Like their Salamander forefathers the Copper Dragons have extraordinary talents in the realms of craftsmanship, and they are particularly good at reverse engineering technology. And this is the sole contributing factor in their possession of two pieces of technology (supposedly) unique to the Blood Angels, the Baal Predator, and Supercharged Engines. They've named theirs Firedrake Predators as they will always carry a full compliment of flame spewing destruction.
Well, there ya go. A short section of the Copper Dragon backstory. More to come soon, but, alas, I needs must sleep.
Vaya con Dios,
Timothy
